Very Pride and Prejudice, but still probably my favorite of the Bedwyn books

A lovely and not the run of the mill Regency period romance. A cold, unfeeling Duke falls in love with a School Teachers daughter, who was widowed, by a weak, but loving man. The cold Duke of Beawcastle fell in love with the outgoing Christine Derrick. Throughout the their sort of courtship, we see different glimpses of the Duke's real personality, seeing him fall in love with Christine. Great book!

A wonderful cherry on the top of the Bedwyn family sundae. I was so excited for Wulfric to finally get his chance at love, and I equally happy that that love came from someone "beneath" him. This is an enchanting conclusion to a family that I have fallen in love with myself.

My favorite Blogh book, slightly above The Temporary Wife. I wouldn't necessarily like to meet Wulfric, but I'd definitely like to be Christine's friend.

My all time favorite, the crowning jewel in her 'Slightly Series', Balogh brings Wulfric Bedwyn, heretofore lurking in the background, but influential nonetheless, of the first five books to life and closes the Bedwyn family loop. The heroine, lower gentry, with some ugliness in her past, bursts onto the scene and into Wulfric's life. As typical of Balogh's books there are scenes and phrases I could repeat with little effort if for no other reason than the words are eloquent, however the emotion found in those words are what makes them memorable.

This is passionate, beautifull written book with complex characters and emotions.

One of my favorite books! I love how perfect Wulf and Christine are for each other, and so completely opposite. We've seen Wulfric so stoic and "high in the instep" through all his siblings' romances, and just a few peeks at the feelings hiding behind his mask. It's so refreshing to see Christine bringing that out even more as their romance develops.
