Wonderful book! Makes you realize just how connected all parts of nature are and how each is needed for survival of all. Taught me that the gorilla is the most gentle of all the greater apes.

This Non- Fiction novel is inspiring and moticational. Dian Fossey a mirror image to Jane Goodall she explores the forests of South America to study Gorrilas. Her experiences with them are funny, sad, endearing, and most of all beautiful. She interacts with them with Caution though by the end they are one family. Dian Fossey gives up her job to travel to South America and study gorillas. What first is just a research study turns to changed feelings for these unique creatures. Of course not everything is perfect she struggles with poachers and the deaths of favorite gorillas. This novel gave me hope to pursue my dreams no matter how far they may take me. To try something new and have fun and learn facts you never knew about. To travel to new strange places risking your life to see manicfict creatures of mother nature. it is a truly beautiful story i loved it. I would recommend it to people with interest in Gorillas and animals or would like to read an inspiring story.

This book is a true classic with a tireless message of conservation. The story of Dian Fossey and her work with the mountain gorillas in the Virunga Volcanic region of Rwanda is nothing short of incredible. She gave her life in an effort to make us aware of the importance of conservation issues all over the world.

My only problem with the book is its slightly confusing chronology. For example, Fossey would write about a particular animal in one chapter as an adult but then in a later chapter, would write about its infancy and childhood. It was particularly disruptive to me if she had already written about the animals death. This made the storyline hard to follow even though I read it pretty quickly.

Despite the confusing series of events, Gorillas in the Mist is a captivating and moving story about a woman who was passionate about her work with the mountain gorillas.

About Dian Fossey, a zealot who helped gorillas, but made the locals angry.
