“Enjoyable. I really liked the Wizard of Oz-feel that it had. Sometimes the dialogue became a little tiresome, and the plot was predictable. But, overall, it was creative and well-written. My favorite aspect of the book was the unusual and fun manner in which it illustrates the awesomeness of the...”see full review » see other reviews »

“I loved this book so much. At first I wasnt into it but after I got the flow of the story and couldnt stop reading. If your into punk rock angels, talking gnomes, and teen adventure ,this book is for you. :) ”Melissa Rua wrote this review 2 weeks ago. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I should preface this by saying that I read this book over a ridiculously long period of time (3 months), so perhaps if I'd read it in more like a few sittings I would have liked it better. It's just one of those books that seems like it thinks it is more profound than it really is. It was funny and times, and touching at times, and occasionally thought-provoking, but overall I just felt a big, "OK, so what?" ”Noel C wrote this review 3 weeks ago. “Going Bovine was interesting from cover to cover while always maintaining a perfect balance of drama and humor. I found each and every character to be likable and relatable- even the Norse god disguised as a garden gnome. It has a bit of an open ending that I found to be a little confusing, but that's the only complaint I have for this otherwise wonderful novel.”Haylee Hyslip wrote this review Friday, November 1, 2013. “This was probably the craziest and most confusing books that i have ever read. I never knew what was gonna happen next. Cam seems like the average teenager until he gets a disease and has to go on a crazy adventure to save his life and befriends a talking gnome on his way.”bobby tolan wrote this review Thursday, October 31, 2013. “Shaken by a terminal diagnosis, high schooler Cameron shakes off his apathy and embarks on a quest for a cure that combines magical realism and a coming-of-age fantasy.”Ms. Naumann wrote this review Wednesday, August 28, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“One of the most surreal and well-done contemporary novels I've ever read. Admittedly, the second time through I was a little less impressed with the characters but it's still awesome and the plot is just epic. All the little twists and turns and surprises and things that come back to haunt Cameron and the gang.
And don't get me started on Balder. Easily my favorite character and a very noble and mighty warrior.
Dulcie's also pretty cool, if maybe a little... cliché? Stereotypical? I'm not sure what the word I'm looking for is, but she's that. Nevertheless, I like her a lot more than lots of fictional heroines.
The ending is also perfectly well done. Just perfect.
Ultimately one of my favorite books and one I'd easily recommend to lovers of surreal fantasy and road trips and Norse gods.

“This was a wild ride. For the first time I am not sure everyone should read this book; it seems like only a certain kind of person ell latch on to this fantasy adventure. I found its most appealing trait to be its voice, which speaks to you with a contemporary, casual sassiest. ”Mister D wrote this review Monday, July 29, 2013.
