"GREAT JOB" I would first like to say kudos to the author. You did an excellent job. The women in our book club laughed and I cried and some were left wanting more. We have read so many sexually explicit books with no plot other than how to get your freak on, drug dealers, etc... Just between friends book club supports as many authors that we can. This author gave us a story that we could relate to and the characters seemed like people in our own families. It was a fast pace & we enjoyed it. We look forward to future writings from Ms. Hamilton!

Finding Joy in Pain by Roslyn M. Wyche-Hamilton

    Amazon Rating: 3

    Review by Tavares S. Carney

    The Long Way Home

Roslyn Wyche-Hamilton delivers a story full of twists and turns to keep any reader wondering just what in the world is going in the lives of main characters, Joi and Jaylen. Both are living with decisions they’ve made and must face the reality that they may never know what could have been. The author engages us with the Joi’s attendance at Jaylen’s wedding to Toni. For reasons the reader will probably automatically assume, Jaylen and Joi find reasons to emotionally lean on each other during trying times in each one of their lives.

Supporting characters Damon, Tyree, Faith, Alexis, Toni and K.J., add a certain degree of excitement to the story. I found myself thinking that one was crazy, the other a wanna be player, Faith is the naïve one that I was hoping would wise up and Auntee Lex, well I empathized with her and loved her all the same. Toni and K.J. were a bit predictable for me. I had those two figured out all along. I have to admit, I pretty much assumed how this novel would end for Joi and Jaylen, but the author did leave me wondering if the infamous Damon would resurface in a future work.

Overall, this was a fast, light read for me. I liked it and would consider another selection from the author.
