“I've read Kafka, Sputnik, and one of his short story collections - and was it just me, or was the translation of "After Dark" especially poor? Murakami usually doesn't use such simple sentences and phrasing.”
“I can see why you would think that. I dont tyhink its down to the translation though. Its a conscious choice of Murakami to write in the style of a screenplay as opposed to his usual prose. I agree that it does not feel the same and to a degree isnt as enjoyable as his regular fare. If you havent read Wind Up Bird Chronicle then would highly reccomend that to you.”
