I read a lot and I have never come across a book so unique in its style. I was hooked from the very first chapter.” see full review » see other reviews » |

Overall, I feel Foer’s book is confusing and convoluted. I do root for little Oskar,...” see full review » see other reviews » |

It is one of my favorite books that I've read in my life so far. The book really touched me, it was emotional because of all of the things Oskar had gone through in his life. I almost cried many times reading it. I like the style that Jonathan Safran Foer wrote the book in, particularily with the letters and journals. It really added to the success of the book, in my opinion. I really reccommend this book to anyone who would like a touching novel that speaks to them. ”

A lot of the time I found myself not being able to put it down because you want to find out what's going to happen next. When you first start the book it tends to be a little confusing, but the more you read the better understanding you get of it. I thought the book was also very sad because it tells about the tragedies of many people lives like Oskar, his grandpa, and grandma. I thought the ending was kind of disappointing because the main plot of the book is that Oskar was looking for a key that he found in his dad's closet after he died and after 8 months he found out the key didn't have to do with his dad at all. I would recommend this book for anyone to read.”

The novel, written in a variety of tenses and perspectives, kept me endlessly intrigued. The non-linear style is a perfect match for Oskar's never-ending imagination, which inspired and kept me thinking. While reading, I found myself sometimes laughing, crying, and all other general emotions I go through when reading a great, sincere book. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a spectacular novel, obviously.”

It is touching AND funny. -which is amazing for me because I don't enjoy reading. Basically the story is primarily about a 9-year old boy named Oskar and his hunt/quest for the opening of a mysterious key found in his dad's closet, in a vase. His father died in the 9-11 terroriest attacks, and along with his hunt for the lock, Oskar is also trying to get over his dad's death. Its a long journey and Oskar meets lots of new people. The second small story within the novel has to do with the relationship between Oskar's grandparents. I loved the book, and would recomend it to anyone!”

There is many parts in the novel that i didnt understand or that i found confusing. The novel jumps back in forth between who is talking, or who is the narrator, so i never really knew right away who was talking. You really had to pay attention to what was being said and the dates to figure that out. I like how in the beginning the farther dies with something that a lot of people can relate to, since it just recently happened. Over all this novel is a pretty good one.”
