excellent book. I thought the ending pulled everything together. The author leaves you thinking a lot in the book that why at th end most things are explained and messages are clear. Oskar is a very smart 9 year old who figured out the lock to the key. He is very determined that what gets him to the end of his journey.I like that Oskar is very thoughtful in the end when he puts the pictures backwards so the pictures od the fallling person is falling up to heaven and saved.

Wonderful book. Very creative and inspiring. At first I was somewhat negative about the mother, but it turned out she 'did an act of love' by letting her son do his thing. I was also worried that he kept the messages from his father as a secret for his mother, but the book also reassured me later, because he phoned the mother also.

But I was sometimes confused about the whole relationship between the grandparents. However beautiful when it appeared that she only pressed the space in her 'book'. What would she has thought when he said he think it's beautiful and emotional and stuff. What a play (charade?).

I look forward to your opinion / views on this relationship between the grandparents.

    Sorry for my bad English.

The last few pages when the guy was 'falling' upwards was really sad for me. I almost cried a few times in this book.
    This book is really mindblowing.
    Favourite book ever, hands down.

Question: Did anyone put in the time to find out what the two page message was that Thomas Schell tries to say with the long series of numbers at the phone booth ? I tried to punch it in in my phone and it starts with 'My name is', after that i must have been doing something wrong cos the words weren't making sense.. I'm still curious though..anybuddy ?

I enjoyed this book. I liked the use of illustration, I thought it was well done. When I finished the book I found myself a bit angry at the mother for her lack of communication with Oskar. Does anyone else feel this way?

To Miranda: I do not think this would be appropriate there are some inappropriate scenes that you would not like your ten year old to read, but if you skipped out on those parts it might be interesting to hear a young child's response to the novel.
