Too much chaos I guess I couldn't really follow, I was bored! But as the story came to an end and I was enjoying the last few chapters, the book just ended on me. WTF???? How in the world did they get to Timbuktu? ”

This leads the protagonist on a bizarre quest for meaning and purpose in her life, led by someone who bailed out of the finance field to commune with the frog and fish spirits in Timbuktu. Loopy, entertaining and oddly believable story.”

I won't give anything away, but get ready for impressionistic-loving Native Americans, ancient Japanese imperial enema nozzles and a monkey jewel thief.
This is not a joke.”
“An enjoyable Robbins novel with its effusions of gloriously unconfined language. But written entirely in second person, I guess just to prove that it could be done. But the problem is that the second person (You think this, You feel that, You do certain things) constantly insist that the reader identify completely with the viewpoint character and obey directions from the author. This is problematic when you have a male author telling a female character what she feels in sexual situations, and insisting that a male reader completely identify with this female character who is acting out the fantasies of a male author. Weird.
It took more than half of the book before I got accustomed enough to the style that I stopped being distracted by such thoughts and just enjoyed the story. After that, it was lots of fun.”
