Doesn't stick to the author's stated design: compare the myths of innovation to historical realities. A little wordy at times, could probably be 10-20% shorter, could use a good dose of pithiness and succintness at times. All said, however, a worthy read.

Passable. Maybe it was my mood, but while I could tell he was writing clearly, it just kind of blurred together. If I had to put this book in a genre, it would be in the "all those other books are wrong" genre.

I really like the book because of its simplicity and being concise, and yet I don"t feel the book is lacking in content. The chapters are also quite short that you can easily squeeze in time if you are a busy person. A truly inspiring book for anyone interested in the process of invention.

I pretty much liked this book, even quoted it in an article I published on innovation, http://www.es.hu/index.php?view=doc;19461

For me "The Riddle" is more interesting than this one

Each chapter title is a myth, like "There is a method for innovation" or "The myth of epiphany." Each chapter starts with a personal story. Each chapter has loads of examples - current (DNA, Craiglist, the Mac) and historical (Rosetta Stone, Gutenberg's press). There are whimsical quotes from Bertrand Russell and John Cage. History has never been more fun.

Innovation is not just the product of a lightbulb going off in someone's head. This book digs into the things that we commonly assume about innovation. It is a fun book to read, and it is inspirational in that it makes the great innovators of the past seem more everyday people who worked hard, built on others' ideas, and found ways to do new things.
