Persephone narrates the story how she met Hades from her point of view. She starts telling us how tired of her being treated as a child by her mother Demeter. Soon she meets with an outcast, a male who she has no idea who or what he is, but that she's attacted to him. After various meetings Persephone realises she's in love with him and she discovers by her mother that he's the ruler of the dead. Hades confess to her and ask her if she would come with him to his kingdom and be his queen, now Persephones has to make a choice. The next day she agrees and goes with him to the Underworld.

Persephone is impressed in how different is this kingdom, different but not terrible as she once imagined. She question herself about being queen and accepting by coming here, but those thoughts leaves her soon. Being a ruler is hard, if you've never wear heels and always being running with a chiton full of mud,(witch actually helps her in going unnoticed as the queen in the kingdom) so Hades starts helping her with the task. She soon discovers how to change her sourundings, she finds a rosemary, and decides she can make a garden around the castle with her own hands.
Soon, she starts to notice there's been a lot of more shades than the normal thanks to Melita, a los soul who almost goes into the Lethe river. Most of the shades are in there because of the bad harvesting they are getting. Hades is hiding something from here and does not want to talk to her about anything that goes out from his territory. Persephone realises her mother is making this, and she knows it because she left her and Demeter wants he back or she's going to kill evertyhing alive in earth.
