All of Leiber's Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser stories are pure, glittering gold.
Higgins: Doolittle, you're either an honest man or a rogue.
Doolittle: A little of both, Guv'nor. Like the rest of us, a little of both.

Only the inaugural stories of the greatest fantasy series of all time, Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and Gray Mouser. This omnibus edition contains Swords and Deviltry and Swords Against Death, the latter being my favorite of the seven original books. Leiber was a pioneer (first F&GM story published 1940) in the use of antiheroes in fantasy tales. His gift for descriptive language and compound word creation place him far above all competitors, in my view. The award winning Ill Met In Lankhmar and Jewels in the Forest are the standout stories.”
