“I found Ian Rankin quite by accident. I went to a local Borders to hear a reading by George Pelecanos, who sets all his crime/detective fiction in the Washington DC area, and Rankin was there also, a murder/mystery twofer. Intrigued by his talk (although I had to struggle to understand him through his thick Scottish brogue), I picked up Knots and Crosses and was instantly hooked. To the detriment of George Pelecanos, sad to say.”
“My second Rebus novel. A great quick read, establishes the character of Rebus and his background. Recommend you read this one early on if you like these books.”
