Fictionalised biography of WW2 allied secret agent "Madeleine" who was shot in Dachau Concentration Camp and posthumously awarded the George Cross. In real life she was Noor Inayat Khan, the daughter of a Sufi mystic and an American woman. This story is in the form of part autobiography told by Noor while imprisoned and part an attempt by one of her brothers to find her in the last days of the war. This method took a little getting used to, but I was hooked and moved to investigate this...
