Absolutely inspirational - what more can I say. Paul Farmer's passion and commitment are awesome and equally amazing is Tom White's steadfast support throughout the years. It's a must read for everyone.

This was my pick for book club some years back - first non-fiction we all read. Easy to see why Tracy Kidder has lasted decades in the field of non-fiction; while we may lose interest at some point, he paints an indelible picture in our minds of the characters he explores -years (4?) after i read this, i still have an image of paul farmer, the living proof that we can ALL make a difference in this world - for a bright spot in an otherwise depressing global environment right now, read this and you may even be inspired to make a difference in your own village!

The writing is not always good - but the story is wonderful. I have also heard Paul Farmer talk about his experiences - one man can change the world!

Very inspiring. Better than Three Cups of Tea, but maybe because I read this one first, and Paul Farmer is my age, and Haiti is closer to the US than Afghanistan & Pakistan.
