Sometimes Hawken gets a little screechy for my taste, and his "largest movement" claim is a bit of a stretch. Even so, he might be the most talented writer working in this space. Some of his chapters, where he argues his main points and makes connections between seemingly unrelated events, are compelling and interesting. The more worked up he gets, the more brilliant. Just about everyone in the "green" movement has read this book, and he travels around speaking to standing-room-only audiences.

This is an inspiring book in some respects, because Paul Hawken sees progressive unity and progress when most of us think we've just managed to tread water. However, he doesn't quite prove his point, I don't think. Many of the case studies he uses are from the past. I also don't quite "get" how he organized the book; it seemed sort of haphazard to me. (Also note that it's much shorter than it looks! The last quarter is an appendix.)
