I've had a hard time putting this book down. The author is not only a very engaging writer, but his take on Washington's personality, character, psyche, and abilities is fascinating. I've read a number of biographies of Washington, and this ranks with the best. As the subtitle indicates, Lengel focuses on Washington's military life, and he turns his discussion into a revealing and thoroughly engrossing read.
