“I have no idea how publishers can get away with republishing a book, but giving it a different name to make people think it's a "new" book. Flickering Pixels is basically the same book Shane Hipps published a few years ago: The Hidden Power of Electronic Culture. (I'd guess that 90% of it is exactly the same--word for word). So, whatever you thought of Hidden Power, you would think the same of Flickering PIxels. It's basically an uncritically application of some of Marshall McLuhan's insights. It would have been helpful for Hipps to wrestle with all the problems inherent in McLuhan's work. Maybe use Raymond Williams to provide a critical edge?”
