Alexander MacLean is still angry about the scandal that caused his brother Hugh to have to marry Catriona Hurst. He wants to get his revenge on Caitlyn Hurst (Triona's twin sister) for causing the whole mess and gets her invited to the same house party he's attending in the hopes to get his chance for revenge. Caitlyn, after the events that caused her sister's abrupt marriage was whisked away by her parents and has been at the vicarage ever since. She has been thinking about nothing but Alexander MacLean and is shocked to find out that he is also invited to the same party that she's attending.

Caitlyn swore to herself that she would not let her impulsive nature get the better of her this time when she is angered by Alexander at first. She has to remind herself time and again when he insults her, trying to get a rise out of her.
He notices that all of the other gentlemen at the party are enthralled with her beauty and keep following her around like a faithful puppies.

Alexander then starts looking at Caitlyn in a different light, while at first trying to discourage the other men from fawning all over her, then he starts spending more and more time with her and even tries to find reasons to see her. They still argue however and that leads to a friendly wager, between the both of them, the conditions set by Caitlyn with the only rule set by Alexander, that it be private just between them and not any of the other party goers need know about it. They quickly fall in love soon after, just like their siblings, Hugh and Triona from the last book.

I really enjoyed this one as well, after reading Hugh and Triona's book, I was hoping that Caitlyn would finally get her man, and she does :)

Loved this -- the Scottish genre again, but I never get tired of it.

This one was just okay. It's the last in MacLean series and it just felt like the series had run out of steam. It tried but it couldn't do it.
