This book combines a awesome dystopian, dicatorship government, high school children killing each other for entertainment, and More. I adore this book, and have since it was released in English. This is similar in plot to the new Hunger Games series, but with a bigger cast list, and different...

One of the most gruesome book I have ever read. What can I say? Umm, this is book is pretty f** up. Bloodbath. But I enjoyed reading this.

Battle royale takes place in japan. the japanese government created a "game" in which children from a specific class are sent to an island and are forced to kill each other. the island is heavily guarded and everyone is fighting to survive. only1 person can live, and if there is more than 1 remaining person after 24 hours everyone is killed. it is up to each student on how they are going to survive this terrible "game"

i really liked this book. the idea itself is very sick but the book is written in such a way that you just want to keep on reading. i have seen the movie and i prefer the book more, as it is a lot more detailed. the book was slow at the beginning, but once the action really picked up it never lessened and it was an intense, fat paced book.

You should definitely read this book before you watch the film adaption. The movie does not do this novel any justice. The battle scenes are graphic and will have you at the edge of your seat. While reading this book, you actually feel like you're in the game. And then you start to wonder, what if you were?

Before reading this years ago, I was expecting a light read with shallow characters and I thought from the synopsis it would be depressing. Instead, I was greeted by great depth, inspirational loveable characters, great character development and a beautiful and uplifting narrative. Don't be put off reading this if you've recently seen the film adaptation (which fails to capture much of the novel's depth and quality).

Have not read hunger games but this book sounds just like it. 41 students (42 people counting the teacher who was killed in the first ten pages) have to fight and kill each other to win , not food, but a autograph of their dictator and pensions(?) Shuya and his bestfriends crush must kill all of the kids in the school because if they don't they will be killed either by their classmates, or they're own government which org'anized the game/program in order to decrease the population of adults in the future, so they choose a random class anywhere and like the communist regime in china all of the children are equal no matter what social class or situation they're in. after every chapter the book says how many children are left. Shuya is athletic and smart in literature unlike me.

This book combines a awesome dystopian, dicatorship government, high school children killing each other for entertainment, and More. I adore this book, and have since it was released in English. This is similar in plot to the new Hunger Games series, but with a bigger cast list, and different "feel" to it. japanese classmates become more intimate since they don't switch classes, but just stay in the same one for 12 years. I love the graphic novel and movies as well, but the book just is a bit "meatier", and I appreciate it.

Fantastic read! If you're looking for a fantastic writing style in a book, then this isn't for you. Its all about the story as it has been translated from Japanese. A brilliant book for anyone who likes a bit of adventure and gore. Brilliant twists and heart wrenching love stories all rolled into one. Be warned, it may cause nightmares!
