The Dosadi Experiment is oddly reminiscent of Dune, with Jorj McKie standing in for Paul Atreides.

The second novel set in the ConSentiency universe, it follows McKie to Dosadi, an experimental planet imprisoned behind a God Wall. The inhabitants barely survive on a poisonous planet that makes Arrakis look friendly, and in their ferocity and resourcefulness they might make the Fremen look soft.
