I have loved every book I've ever read by him, so it was hard to choose which one to place on my Top 10 list, though I was certain I wanted him represented there. I chose this one, because of its wonderfully...” see full review » see other reviews » |

“Cool, clear, golden Dandelion Wine on the shelf, one bottle for every day of a magical summer in Green Town. See the summer of 1928 as seen through the eyes of a 12-year-old boy, his 10-year-old brother, and various other characters who all bring different things to the tale. It's a collection of lessons about life, happiness, memory, and what it means to be alive. Watch through sickness, health, pleasantries, death, and above all, imagination. As you read Dandelion Wine, you can remember how it was to be twelve, and to have everything mean something exquisite in its own way, and how even tiny things can mean something big. It's a beautiful story, one that everyone should read, for there are lessons here that anyone can find. ”

I can't say I understand why folks would make a yearly summer ritual of reading this, but apparently some do. It's not a horrible book, but it's a series of strung together vignettes that didn't, for me, ever cohere into something greater than its parts.”
