My Pride is under fire from all sides, my father's authority is in question and my lover is in exile. Which means I haven't laid eyes on Marc's gorgeous face in months. And with a new mother and an I-know-everything teenager under my protection, I don't exactly have time to fantasize about ever seeing him again. Then our long-awaited reunion is ruined by a vicious ambush by strays. Now our group is under attack, Marc is missing and I will need every bit of skill and smarts to keep my family from being torn apart. Forever.

“IMHO the best of the series yet. Faythe has really grown and is taking seriously the possibility of becoming the top werecat after her father retires. This was another case of once you picked up the book there was no turning it loose. There was constant action and emotional angst from page 1 till it ended. The only thing I disliked was that it had to end. Can't wait to sink my teeth in Vincent's next in the series, "Shift" Don't know how I'll make it till Marach.”

I don't think that I've ever been this "team conflicted" either. I can always totally side with one guy over the other but I just can't choose between Jace and Marc, it's rough times. I don't know how Rachel is going have her choose but I can't wait to read Shift in March!”
“I love this series so much. i can't wait for Shift that will be coming out on March 1, 2010!!!! ”

We lose one of our favorites however, and I cried when the time came. I think I would have liked to see some more emotion on Faythe's part, especially considering the loss, and we see a new side to her father which was previously only hinted at (albeit sometimes rather blatantly). Overall, wonderful read and definitely keeps you on the edge of for the next installment.”

Faythe is missing Marc fiercely and gets to meet up with him for one night while they are crossing the free territory where he was banished as part of the consequences of her trial from the last book. Faythe goes home and later gets a call from Dan Painter, that Marc is missing and there was blood and two dead tomcats found in his house.
Faythe is also worried about Kaci, the teenage tabbycat who still refuses to shift, as her health is declining rapidly due to not shifting for 2 months. Faythe gets the ok from her father, and takes the guys with her to search for Marc and they uncover some pretty shocking info and a plan that some of the other Alpha's that are opposed to Faythe's dad and it has something to do with Calvin Malone, Milo Mitchell and his son and wildcat Kevin Mitchell.
Things get very stressful and heartbreaking as Faythe has to fend off attacks from a group of strays that are allied under Kevin Mitchell, who has taken Marc and is using him as a hostage to get info to get back in his father's good graces. There is also an attack at the Sanders ranch by a group of Calvin Malone's toms who want to take Kaci. Faythe really has to make some hard decisions and stay strong for everyone while her whole world is falling apart around her.
This series keeps getting better and better, but this book broke my heart as not everyone makes it through unscathed, I won't tell you who but it was shocking and turned out to be one of my favorite characters who dies. Definetly a good read, I read this book in two days.”
“Let me first say: I love Marc. He has to be my favorite character. His charisma, strength -physically too, but I mean mentally, his praticality, his aura, everything. So naturally when he gets taken I am crushed! And then Ethan... I cried that last half of the book. That poor family. Another great book! Can't wait for the next one.”
