by Jen Lancaster

Jen Lancaster hates to burst your happy little bubble, but life in the big city isn't all it's cracked up to be. Contrary to what you see on TV and in the movies, most urbanites aren't party-hopping in slinky dresses and strappy stilettos. But lucky for us, Lancaster knows how to make the life of the lower crust mercilessly funny and infinitely entertaining.

I always wonder if an author's second book is going to be as good and as funny as the first. Seems impossible, but it definitely is!! There are parts of this book that are almost too funny. I don't recommend reading this while your partner is sleeping next to you--he'll wake up because the bed is shaking from you laughing. Particularly histerical is Jen's take on going to the gynecologist for her yearly visit. OMG, just too funny, but something only another woman can appreciate. I can't wait til she turns 40 and has to have a mammogram!!

Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to laugh out loud!

just as funny as the first one and at times funnier. I love the more emails and such, since it make it that much more comical. Cant wait to read the third instalment.

I don't think this book was as funny as the first. Although some parts were very boring, the book overall was hilarious.

Bright Lights, Big Ass has the same overall themes as Jen's other books, which include her amusing drinking and cooking habits, her weird dogs, and her need to diet and exercise. She takes these things and mingles them with city life – basically, she iterates over and over how city life is not nearly as glamorous as Carrie Bradshaw made it look. She gives city lovers a reality check with her adventures figuring out the bus system, dealing with challenging neighbors, and apartment hunting. I recommend any of Jen’s books for sure.

HILARIOUS!! Jen Lancaster is my type of girl, terrific sense of humor, Midwestern to the core, brutally honest, not afraid to say what is on her mind. I definitely look forward to reading more by her!

There are a few chuckles in this installment of Miss Lancaster's exercise in serial narcissism, but not as many as in the third installment, Such a Pretty Fat.

Very formulaic writing, and once you read one chapter, you have essentially read them all. If you must? This is one to borrow rather than buy.

Loved it! Another great book from Jen Lancaster. I found myself laughing out loud and reading bits out to my boyfriend...who also found it hilarious. I just found out that Ms. Lancaster has just published another book. I quickly went to Amazon and ordered it. Can't wait to read more. Chick lit as memoir...unusual and very fun.

Hi-larious. I haven't laughed out loud at a book in an age, and Ms. Lancaster has a good laugh going at least every 5 pages. This is a woman I want to have a cocktail with.

Interesting writing style with footnotes on every page...very funny chick-lit author. I read this on the beach while on vacation and was laughing out loud. P.S. Love the fact that she is a Republican!
