    Review by Jill Williamson

When Dillon Appleseed’s computer science teacher suggests the possibility of Image Particle Transfer as a way for people to travel to a different dimension, Dillon is spellbound. He follows his teacher’s instructions and finds a gateway to an online world.

Having parents who are too busy for him, Dillon spends most his free time with his grandpa. Dillon talks his grandpa into trying the Image Particle Transfer with him and together they press ENTER.

They travel through Dillon’s computer and arrive in Cyberia, a country in Cyberspace. There they find a world filled with Cyberian life forms who speak HTML, a ground covered with tracking cookies, mild-mannered Web crawler spiders, and a dangerous Trojan horse.

Dillon is approached by anti-viral specialist Morton McAfnee and must decide whether to share the use of his PDA to help Cyberia fight an organized syndicate of destructive viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and spyware that is set on destroying all of Cyberspace.

This was a delightfully creative and unique premise. I enjoyed the real versions of all things computer-related. The plot took a while to get going. It was very much an Alice in Wonderland-like adventure. The hero stumbled into a foreign land and met many strange characters. My biggest frustration was how it ended. I prefer a story where the hero saves the day himself. In a way, I felt like Dillon was on a long ride, doing little to influence his own journey. Still, the story was entertaining and fun. What did you think about this book?
