I bought the original version of this and enjoy looking at it on my book shelf and occasionally opening to a random page and reading, but I haven't mustered the willpower or time to dive into this yet. Please convince or encourage me that it's worth it.

I only read parts of this. It was fascinating, but a little over my head, in spots.

One of the most ground-breaking collection of words ever published on the subject of the human mind, it has a universal theme of the search for the root of thinking itself. I try to re-read this book every few years, and find new nuances each time. A timeless classic on semiotics, language theory, chaos, paradox, fuzzy logic, metamathematics and music. If you haven't read this book, or Mr. Hofstadter's other works, you haven't really lived.

Easily the most difficult book to read and understand completely!

Goedels incompleteness theorem is a bit like relativity. You read about it and feel like you sort of understand it, then you do something else or a while and it sort of drifts away and confusion returns.

A very interesting book with great Carroll type parables to illustrate the ideas in the chapters, makes it fairly easy to grasp and fun to read
