Thief of hearts is an exceptional book and a highly engrossing one, I enjoyed every page of it. What I mostly liked is the tenderness and caring between the characters; a true story of love rather than lust which is often the case, especially lately. I must admit though that the first part was better than the first; in fact I thought that Captain Doom fought his love for Lucy for way too long in the end. Despite this, Medeiros is an author who excels in heartwarming romances, the fairy-tale kind, and makes you care for her heroes which are realistically -and not idealy- drawn with flaws and weaknesses.
Engaging plot, interesting mystery, nice prose, a strong and handsome but troubled hero... what's not to like? More of 4 and 1/2 than 5 stars but nevertheless a highly recommended and tender romance.
A great pirate romance.....

So this might be the most difficult review that I've ever written. I want to say so much, but to avoid any spoilers, I'll have to say very little.

I found it a bit difficult to originally get in to this book because Lucy's love interest changes from her pirate abductor to her bodyguard within the first four chapters. I found it difficult to change gears.

This book is laced with action and mystery. I never knew exactly what was going on, who was good, and who was evil. Lucy was a spirited heroine that I admired and Gerard was guarded but so protective and careful with Lucy. Another bonus is that Medeiros wrote this book. She is a wonderful talent and I have enjoyed everything that I've ever read that was hers.

I recommend this book for those who enjoy a change of scenery....London to the open seas, and a plot that is not always as it seems.
Really liked this one!

I used to read pirate romances alot back in the 80's and there aren't alot around anymore so I quickly scooped this one up. It is definitely different than those old pirate tales, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

At first I was curious how the hero and heroine was ever going to become charming enough for the other to fall in love, but I ended up buying it hook line and sinker!

It was an interesting plot twist having the hero serve as the heroine's body guard. And the relationship that was allowed to develop under these circumstances. These were definitely two people who needed the power of love, and very touching they were able to find it in one another.

This was a thourghly enjoyable read!

I very much enjoyed this book. I love the style of writing, and how the characters developed. I love the interaction of the characters, and the strength of each individual. The tale is vivid, the emotions of the hero and heroine so very well defined you find your own heart is aching, and throat tightening. I wish I'd never read the book solely for the purpose that I could pick it up anew!
