A Christmas Carol is about a man named Scrooge who has to meet up with the Ghost of Christmas past, Ghost of Christmas present, and lastly Ghost of Christmas future. During his visits with all of the ghosts Scrooge sees the poor child he was, the way people thought about him in the present, and he saw what was in his future if he continues doing what he is doing. During his visit with Ghost of Christmas present, Scrooge sees a little boy named Tiny Tim, who is the son of one of Scrooge's workers. If Scrooge doesn't give his worker a raise Tiny Tim's future isn't very bright. Will the visits of these ghosts help turn Mr. Scrooge back to the man he used to be?

I liked this book because the story was very good. It had many details. These details helped my vision the story in my head. This was a good book.

I didn't like this book because it is an older book to the wording was very different. It was hard for me to follow at times because of the way Charles Dickens worded his story. It was just very old fashioned. It seemed like fancy talk to me.

This book was very boring and short. I fell asleep every time i read it.

I liked this book because it was a good excuse to go and fall asleep on the couch.

I didn't like this book at all. The only good part about reading this book was that I was getting more sleep. It was hard to understand it and the people talk in some weird, old type of talk. I only read this book because my teacher made me.

Ebenezer Scrooge is an old man who runs Scrooge & Marley, a counting-house firm in London, England. His business partner, Jacob Marley, died seven years before, and Scrooge runs the firm by himself. Bob Cratchit, an employee is given a hard time when he asks to have Christmas Day off to spend with his family. Cratchit explains that it is only once a year, and Scrooge's exclaims that it is "a poor excuse for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of December!" Although Scrooge aversely agrees, although, he demands that Bob come in the following day extra early to make up for it!
When Scrooge returns home on Christmas Eve, he is startled to see that the brass knocker on his door has turned into an image of Jacob Marley. Later that evening, he is visited by Marley's ghost. At first, he refused to believe that Marley was real. Marley's ghost is covered in chains attached to padlocks, and ledgers. Marley warns Scrooge that he is destined to the same fate if he does not change his ways, telling him: "I wear the chain I forged in life...I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I put it on of my own free will, and my own free will I wore it." Marley foretells of the three ghosts that will visit Scrooge. They are the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future.

I like that this book has a lot of description about how Mr. Scrooge reacts to all of his situations. And the descriptions aren’t just things like “He was sad.” They are deep descriptions that explain his facial expressions.

In my more cynical moments I would describe this as saccharine. But this is Dickens and he's fucking awesome.

The Christmas Carol is about a old man called Scrooge who absolutely loathes Christmas and finds it silly to say Merry Christmas. He thinks Christmas is a time where you have to spend too much money on the poor, people who he dislikes the most! When his dear friend who has died, sends him 3 spirits so that he learns the true meaning of Christmas, Scrooge starts to have a slight change. Which might be leading to a happy ending in this story.

A Christmas carol: I found this book to be very good, though short .It is about a man named Scrooge who’s partner in business Marley who dies in the very begin of the story . This causes the old man like I said who is named scrooge to have no Christmas spirit, in fact hates Christmas. So because of this on the night before Christmas he is visited by three ghosts. The three ghosts that visit him are the ghost of past, present and future. These three ghosts help him realize that he needs to change and be happier. Also these three ghosts cause him to love Christmas once again.
I like A Christmas Carol because it is a heartwarming story overall and it is plain and simple interesting. It makes the reader or in some cases the watcher (because there is a movie) to feel so many good feeling. Or like remember all the happy times they had around Christmas time it just sets the spark to memories, feelings, conversations and good, fun times. There is nothing in this story that I did not lie or that I wish had not happened.

I had planned to listen to this audiobook during the holidays, which I had borrowed from the library. When I received a free gift from Audible to download this latest version narrated by Tim Curry, I chose to listen to this edition instead.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a miserable old skinflint who runs Scrooge & Marley, a counting-house firm in London, England. His business partner, Jacob Marley, passed away seven years before, and Scrooge runs the firm with an iron-first. His employee, Bob Cratchit, is given a hard time when he asks to have Christmas Day off to spend in celebration with his family. Cratchit maintains that it is only once a year, and Scrooge's retort is that it is "a poor excuse for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of December!" Although Scrooge reluctantly agrees, he demands that Bob come in the following day extra early to make up for it!

When Scrooge returns home on Christmas Eve, he is startled to see that the brass knocker on his door has turned into a likeness of Jacob Marley. Later that evening, he is visited by Marley's ghost. At first, he refused to believe that Marley was real. Marley's ghost is covered in chains attached to cash-boxes, padlocks, and ledgers. Marley warns Scrooge that he is destined to the same fate if he does not change his ways, telling him: "I wear the chain I forged in life...I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and my own free will I wore it." Marley foretells of the three ghosts that will visit Scrooge.

I read A Christmas Carol way back in high school, so this is a re-read for me. This classic still hasn't lost its charm. It is a heart-warming story of second chances and redemption, which makes it a perfect holiday read! One of my favourite parts of the story is during Stave Three, when Scrooge sees Tiny Tim's crutch and asks the Ghost of Christmas Present whether the boy will die. It is already apparent that the events of the evening have begun to thaw Scrooge's hardened heart.

When I saw that Tim Curry narrated this version, I was immediately intrigued because Curry has such a big personality with a booming voice to match. He didn't let me down! Tim Curry's narration was fantastic! He does an amazing job of bringing Scrooge's personality across in his narration, and I highly recommend this rendition!

To an Aussie, this contains the most exhilarating descriptions of a northern hemisphere winter, as well as being wise and charming.
