P. D. James' mysteries are more like novels than genre fiction. Her characters are complex; the setting is well-drawn; her language is a delight to read. And of course, there is a satisfying mystery to solve as well. I listened to the audio-book while I scrubbed the deck and it made the job far more agreeable. This made me want to go back to the beginning and read the Adam Dagliesh mysteries in order to better follow the back story of her characters.
