    Kinsale, as always, writes better than most, but I still had a hard time with this novel. The heroine, aside from being good at science, has the mind of a backwards 12 year old! (What kind of man would want a woman like that? Not one I'd put on my interesting-romance-hero list, let me tell you...)

    I really could never buy into any love between the two, despite Kinsale trying hard to push the idea of Instant Attraction (another plot device I'm not too fond of).

    Only one novel from Kinsale's backlist left after this one (The dream hunter). Will it be be like one of her masterpieces (Shadow and Star), or one of her annoying once, like this one? Ah, I'm almost afraid to find out...
