Something wicked this way comes, indeed- Sarah Rees Brennan's debut about two brothers on the run from demon-leashing magicians is wicked in every way: wickedly smart, wickedly sharp, wickedly funny, and wickedly dark.

I devoured every page of this book in a single night, and I've read...

Brennan is at her best with witty banter, but the descriptive passages were overwrought, and trying much too hard (to be fair, I have a very low threshold for overwrought description). The book was readable, and the twist unexpected. I hope this first-time author learns to make more of her talent...

I really liked this suspensful book. It was entertaining and I really fell for the characters. The demon thing is a little trite, but all in all it had an enjoyable story line.

When your brother gets marked a demon you think matters couldn't get much worse..yeah you wish. Exspecially when your the one trying to run, hide, and protect your family without getting caught or losing your life

The fact of the matter is that this book is clearly written by a fanfiction author. A one-note fanfiction author. There are just SO MANY incomprehensible interactions in this novel, and the twist does not make them any less incomprehensible.

Very close brothers, nice world magical world built into our "normal" world, but the writing itself is workmanlike. Like how the characters unfold, everything isn't known about these guys straight away.

Two brothers being chased by demons and fighting for their life. One bother seems very different from the rest of humanity and the other is keeping secrets. If it sounds like Supernatural it pretty much is without all the silliness of the war between demons and angels.

    OVERALL 3/5
Though I found some of the characters compelling and original, the author's world-building and writing was strained and felt incomplete. The characters were constantly in danger of losing consistency, and some of the twists and turns thus were mildly confusing. However, it was a fun read, with plenty of hilariously snappy dialogue.

Well done, I liked the ending, didn't suspect where the author was going. I wish she would have got there sooner, but I guess that was the big cliffhange for book two in the series.
