The threads of the story line, from the 1st book through the 8th, are impeccably complex - almost too much so at times for me! But very dynamic and thoroughly enjoyable to read.”
“Nicholas's most ambitious plan to date has finalised in the previous adventure but not everything has worked out as he expected and his close friends have all disowned him. On a bender in Poland as he tries to sort out his thoughts and learns to understand and accept the criticisms of his friends, he still manages to fit in adventures and deals. But all he really wants is to regain the love of his friends and his long-estranged wife. Whilst Nicholas is an interesting hero, my favourite in this book is his colleague julius who at long last, after years of apparent disinterest in women, decides to marry and DD writes some of her very best scenes between Julius and his wife. But as always with DD, things are not as they seem...... Meantime Nicholas, subdued and at last willing to be guided by others now and again, is looking for a new role in life.”
