i'm so sorry but this is unimaginable that people can like something like this after reading a master piece from him before.. its too much cliche now... same old stuff told in a different way.. very dissapointing... if u like pain and suffering try some other book this will waste your time money...

Wow, that might be the only word I can say to fully describe this book. Laila and Mariam go through extreme hardships and tribulations through this book. From dealing with their abusive husband Rasheed to living with the cruelties of living in the Middle East with the Taliban in control. Through extreme measure and gut wrenching plot jumps this book takes you places that you would never even realize existed, and puts you in the shoes of people that you want to sit and cry with, because of the unfair predicament. This book was so amazing and I truly feel head over heel in love with it and the main characters Laila and Mariam. Truly a five thumb up rating!!

Another one of my favorites because of the setting and beautiful literary style. It just further opened my eyes to the culture of Afghanistan.

Incredible book. Hard to read and emotionally draining in parts, but worth it.

a thousand splendid sun is an amazing book. khaled hosseini takes you the middle east and throws you right into the culture. you truley get to see and understand the life of women in iraq and pakastane. in this novel you observe the growth of a powerful and loving friendship. mariam and laila have lived the same life with losing their familys. then end up both being wifes of rasheed. I HATE RASHEED! his character is so horrible the imagery and way his is described is discusting. amazing book
