I recently visited Niagara Falls for the fist time and was as mesmerized as many of the characters in this story, which spans much of the mid-20th century.One family is featured in mesmerizing psychological detail; its glory days, its downfall, and its eventual redemption. Crooked cops, city officials, and lawyers abound ... and there are a few ethical heroes who manage to hold to their consciences through scandals, a murder that isn't revealed as such until more than 20 years after the fact....
