In this classic example of Mark Twain's humor, Eve (of Adam and Eve fame) is the narrator, telling her story from her creation. She's all woman right from the start, as she tries to think of a way to reach up and collect some stars so she can put them in her hair, and she loves flowers so much that she weaves into garlands and wreaths to wear. She calls her companion "the other experiment." She doesn't know what to make of him, but after some observation she decides that what he does best is rest.

This is very funny. There also a companion novella titled Adam's Diary, which is equally funny.

A funny and in the same time profound story about how people interact, how they build and change their perception over the world. And in the end the world doesn’t matter so much because… "wherever she was; there was Eden"

This is a hilarious and quick read. Why does Eve name a tiger a tiger? Well, duh, because it looks like a tiger! Adam has to learn to adjust to Eve's strange ways, and one day realizes that he can't be happy without her.

Although I give it 4 stars I label it a favourite because it was a gift from my mother and just because of that I think I enjoyed it more, plus me name is Eve... ;-) The wit of Twain is trully remarkable and I especially liked the end with Adam in the modern city... it was very sweet and smart at the same time :-)

It's be over two decades since I read this book, and it is still a defining moment in reading books for me. Great read and (I feel) one of his best.

Hilarious! My favorite part is where Eve tries to put fish in her bed thinking they would be more comfortable there. The fish were not quite as appreciative as she hoped!
