I THOUGHT THIS BOOK WAS NOT INTERESTING. ALL IT WAS ABOUT, WAS A OLD MAN THAT WAS WIERD, AND A FISH. IT DID NOT CATCH MY ATTENTION.THE ENDING WAS SAD BUT THE FISH GIT HALF EATEN BY SHARKS.

This book was boring but it had some type of sentimental lesson. PAtience is key and things don't always go you're way. This book is about an old man who has no luck catching any fish. One day he goes out and he snags a huge one and after several days he catches it. then sharks eat it. This book was long and boring made little sense but taught two huge lessons. i recommend this book to you if you enjoy reading boring books .

This is a lovely tale. It's full of grit and honor, and what a man will do to prove himself, even if only to himself. Hemingway has a simple way of putting you right into the action. This entire story had me tugging along on that fishing line right along with the old man. The ending is absolutely beautiful, though it is full of sorrow it illuminates the resiliency of humankind. For those of you new to literature I recommend this book, it is an easy read, it's short and poignant. And it is one of Hemingway's best novella's. This book was as deeply enjoyed by me as the deep waters it adventures out into.

Awesome book; great story and plenty of vivid imagery. To this day, I can still envision his torn and frayed hands (and wince with pain) after battling with the fish.

A story about a man and his struggle with his ownself ..My all time favorite.

Although the book is very small but it seems as if each word in the book is chosen carefully.

I specially liked the places when the old man talks to himself, fish and the bird .

One of my all time favorites, though I haven't read it in decades. Not highly rated by the critics but I think it is clear, poetic, to the point. It is about a simple man's struggles and persistence, even when winning seems impossible or does not matter in the end.

My all time favorite book, it shows that man can win even in losing. It's not about catching the fish but in never giving up. Man's struggle to achieve against the odds, putting your best effort in all that you do. And even if you lose in the end you know that your best was tested and you still ended with honor and respect from others for your effort. I re-read this book at least once a year.
