What happens when the first citizen of a state ( in this case America) abuses his power and commits a murder? And what if the only witness is a innocent burglar who happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time? A dramatic, suspense ridden book from baldacci where those highest in power would do anything in order to escape conviction and an innocent man's fight against the Goliath government.

This book starts quickly but I had trouble getting into the story because it changed perspective and that was a little confusing to follow the story at first. It isn't a mystery in the traditional sense of the word because you know what happens at the beginning but it adds a lot of different layers before the book is into the first few chapters.

What a great book. The suspense grabs hold and doesn't let go.

The book was very good, and the movie was almost as.

Very good read - kept me interested and I didn't find myself skimming to get through it. I'll definitely read more in this series.

If you have not read any of Baldacci's book, start with this one - his first and best.

Interesting that different pewople react different ways. I watched the film on British TV last night and thought it was excellent - particularly liked Clint Eastwood's understated role
