Shelfari Group Admins 756 books / 5806 members / 3942 posts Welcome all Shelfari group admins! It's about time we created a group just for group admins. This is the place to:

*Offer tips on what does or doesn't work for groups.
*Ask questions about how groups work and what options you have as admins.
*Let us (the Shelfari Team) know what features would be helpful in your groups.
*This group is not a place to advertise your group (or book) to get members--and I will delete discussion threads that are irrelevant.

REMINDER: You can search within the discussion threads in this group by using the "Search Discussions" button on the upper right-hand side of this page

50 Book Challenge! 3132 books / 3137 members / 18415 posts When asked about the new Amazon Kindle product, Steve Jobs CEO of Apple computer had this to say:

“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore,” he said. “Forty percent of the people in the U.S. read one book or less last year. The whole conception is flawed at the top because people don’t read anymore.”

Welcome to the the 50 Book Challenge, where we fly in the face of Steve Jobs.

Basically .... the challenge is to read 50 books in one year. OR ... establish a goal for yourself more or less, it's up to you, just because we say 50 books doesn't mean that has to be your goal too.

Start a thread, WITH YOUR NAME IN THE SUBJECT OF YOUR ORIGINAL POST, and log your books. It is a very good idea to bookmark (when in your post, add it to your internet browser's favorites) your post for easy location for future updates. Things move quickly around here.

If you haven't been keeping track of the books you've read, start when you join.

Thanks for being here and have fun. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact me.

Better than Starbucks… if you like good coffee, great books, sharp wit, and people who read 775 books / 1136 members / 12945 posts Better than Starbucks… if you like good coffee, great books, sharp wit, and people who read Shakespeare, Dickens, Twain, Marquez, Morrison, Joyce, Faulkner, Cather, Kingsolver and a few hundred other really delicious writers, not to impress strangers, but because they love a good read, then please join us. We are not a private group, but the administrators will not resist the urge to delete boring and stupid comments. By the same token, personal attacks on young, slow or otherwise disadvantaged players will not be tolerated. Generally, be nice to other members, but spare not public figures, pop lit superstars, big box stores, politicians and religious leaders. Focus more energy on what is good and even what is great, but feel free to throw a stone when the occasion calls for it. Welcome!
