Elmore Leonard never lets you down. This is a great bit of fun fiction along the same lines as "Get Shorty." Memorable characters, fast paced, surprises, real world dialogue. Great fun.

Elmore is becoming a little too formulaic for me.

Typical Elmore Leonard. It reads like the script of a movie similar to Get Shorty.

It is almost impossible to say anything new about Elmore Leonard that hasn't already been said. In the 30 or so years that he has been writing his breezy black comedies, he has consistently put out page-turning crowd-pleasing stories. By uniting three characters already introduced in other works, he shuffles the deck, creating dialogue that sparks off the page and situations that are laugh out loud funny, all the time creating a thriller that will keep the reader up late until the book is finished. Eminently cinematic, now if he can only convince George Clooney to step in as Foley again...

Picks up where Out of Sight leaves off, and reads almost like a movie script, which I'm certain it will soon become. I have to say I was a little disappointed in this one. It lacked the little surprises and much of the humor I have enjoyed in this author's work in the past.
