Short, simple and yet disturbing. It was really interesting stepping into the subculture world of Japan. "Snakes and Earrings" shows humanity at its best on 'taking whatever comes'. Great book!

The cover art is alluring and sensual. The opening pages are intriguing, edgy, and daring. But, for me, it was all downhill from there to the abrupt, astounding end. I was fascinated by the subculture of piercings, forked tongues, and tattoos. Unfortunately, the characters in the novel are so unlikeable and so depraved, that I couldn't enjoy the art of the writing and the fun of the culture.
