I liked it okay. It seemed to go fast at sometimes others very slow. I am still glad I read it.

Obsessed was a very enjoyable novel packed with suspense. I liked how the Stones of David were incorporated into a fantastic storyline and I also liked all of the crazy things that Stephen tried in order to fool Roth to try to retrieve the stones. Ted Dekker uses fantastic suspense combined with terrific cliffhangars at the end of chapters.

I never really got into the story. The protagonist felt disconnected and what lengths he went to felt ridiculous and extreem. And for what? Well I won't say but the reveal is anticlimactic and made me feel all the more dissatisfied.

The ending of this book is pretty weak. Well, I thought so anyway. And that is what counts!

My first Ted Dekker book... to which I accidentally heralded in the sunrise. I couldn't put the thing down! I found it a bit desperate about 3/4 of the way through, where Dekker has Friedman go after his love and so on. Quite far fetched for a book that wasn't to be taken as far fetched. I did notice, however, that Dekker takes the time to intrinsically weave the characters into beings we can tangibly touch - a tangy trait that I eat up and look forward to in possible future books. The negative feedback I would offer is if he thought he successfully bred occultism into the story, he failed sorely. The mere mention or hint of a few things that are done in occult circles did not make it seen credible in his book. The disgust that he clearly wanted us to feel for Roth and his aged and decrepit father wasn't supported by the information he provided. Overall, a great read. I highly recommend you start reading in the early afternoon.

Good book...the only negative again is lack of Christ in writing.

I would have to say this was a really good book until about half way through and then it just was repetative and boring.

I enjoyed how he worked true historical facts into this story. It's probably the first time he's done that. It wasn't one of his bests or one of my favorites of his. But I'm holding out on faith that this new Ted Dekker is going to merge with the old one and he'll start bringing some good novels to table again. Come on Ted - I know you can do it.
