“Stirring. Unsettling. Disturbing at times. Ultimately will not leave you the same, and that's a good thing. Will challenge your thinking and attitudes. But it's a novel and it does its job as a novel, involving you completely from start to finish - I found it hard to put down. ”

“Another outstanding book by Ted Dekker. The Martyr's Song was the very first book I ever read by Dekker. That book really got me into reading Ted Dekker books. I loved how the book was a love story and action packed story all at the same time. I wish this book could be made into a movie. I was very glad and surprised that the book ended with a happy ending for Jan and Helen, but I was surprised because I thought it would end badly. Very happy that Ivena heard the laughter!! I rated this book with 5 stars. As I said before an outstanding book by Dekker.”

Yes | No“This story line is somewhat of an allegory - showing how much Love Jesus had for us (me) that he willingly sacrificed his life for us (me). There is some violence throughout (Jesus death certainly was violent). I was not sure where Dekker was going with the story line in the first few chapters. However as I continued reading, I was certainly convicted re: my lackadaisical attitude regarding Jesus' sacrifice for me!!”
