Saint

by Ted Dekker

The name ignited a light in Carl's mind. Saint. He'd been covertly recruited for Black Ops and given his life to the most brutal kind of training any man or woman could endure. He was here because he belonged here. To the X Group.

An assasin. The most effective killer in the world. And yet . . . Carl Strople struggles to retain fleeting memories... (read more)

Saint my Ted Dekker is a pretty good book I just got bored at a few parts. I lked it because it was imaginative and entertaining all except for about the the leangh of about fifty pages. I'v heard that Showdown the prequile isn't as good as Saint, should I read it? I like how Ted Dekker tied almost all the stings at the end but left you to figure out what happens when the president find them and how they survuve in the desert. During the story I got a little confused when Johnny was trying to figure out who he was I couldn't seem to decide what was true and what was lies but in the end I got it all rigured out. I had one of those "OHHH I get it now!" moments! I liked how he did that it made it all worth it.

Saint was one of my personal favorites due to the fact that appropriate weopons were incorporated in the book, allowing an interesting storyline that revolves around Carl Strople, or Johnny Drake, depending on the event. The extreme pressure put on Johnny seemed to become a large factor into some of the insane punishments applied to Johnny if he failed a mission for the X-Group. Ted Dekker includes many fantastic cliff hangars at the end of each chapter which consists of extreme suspense.

Saint is my second Dekker book I have read this school year, and I found it to be very suspenseful and mind-blowingly action packed.

    1. I loved the whole aspect of combat and weaponry in this book; it very exciting

    2. I loved how Mr. Dekker tied everything together at the end of the book; I really enjoyed the ending.

Ted Dekker is an amazing author who uses fantastic ideas about many topics and a Christian spin to some of his best works.

I thought that this book was really amazing! The personality of the characters good and evil alike are just a part of what makes this book great. Johnny's powers are what make him a great hero. Also the relationship among characters is quite enticing. Johnny and Englishman's feelings towards each other really build throughout the story. I loved how Ted Dekker used lots of action and suspense to make a great story while he kept you from the truth until a suprise ending! The connection that Johnny and Englishman (their special ability)are very suspenseful. I would recommend this book to any one that loves a great suspense story.

The conflicted killer narrative has become all the rage as of late and Dekker attempts to cash in with yet another dull ripoff. The opening totally starts off on the wrong foot, and is a kind of publicity stunt as it promises to be a book it isn't. Instead we get dull political assassinations, bland relationships and yet another conflicted killer. Bourne did it better people, so quit trying to cash in on something someone else did much better than you ever could.

    And yet another strange/gross/freaky/what? book.

This is the 2nd book in the Paradise Series. The good news is that this book is a much better book, in my opinion, than the 1st book, Showdown. Consequently, if Showdown was a slight let down for you then you might want to give the sequel a chance anyway. Regardless, it is still not quite up to the level of the Circle Trilogy.
