Vladimir Tod just wants to be a normal teen. Unfortunately that is impossible for a vampire who is the only one "living" in the small town of Bathory.

Now starting 10th grade, he faces some typical teen problems. His friend Henry seems to be dumping him to hang out with the popular crowd. Pesky Eddie is determined to expose him, thinking this will bring him the popularity and fame he desires. Meredith has agreed to be his girlfriend, and he can't believe someone so perfect would want to be with him.

He is troubled by terrible nightmares, and the need for human blood is growing extremely difficult to resist, putting Aunt Nelly, Henry, and Meredith at risk. The wicked vampire D'Ablo is determined to get rid of him and steal his powers for himself. Vlad needs to act fast if he is going to save himself and everything he holds dear.

  • Kristoff: Other wise known as David. One of the goths at Vlad's school.
  • Melissa: Henry's crush and Meredith's best friend.
  • Snow: One of the goths introduced to the book. Doesn't go to Vlad's school but hangs out with Vlad's newly found goth friends.
  • Snelgrove: Bathory High's new principal. Was once the Junior High's principal and he hates Vlad.
  • Vikas: One of Vlad mentors from the second book. Otis's long time friend.
  • Jasik: A vampire thief hired by D'Ablo
  • Sprat: One of the kids in the goth group at Vlad's school
  • Ignatius: A very skilled vampire bounty hunter that is out for Vlad's blood. He was hired by the Elysian Counsil.
  • Andrew: A boy that bullys Vlad
  • Joss McMillan: Henry's cousin. He is also a slayer and fled Bathory after he tried and failed to kill Vlad.
  • Bill: One of the bullies that's always tormenting Vlad.
  • October: One of the goths at Vlad's school
  • Mike: Joss's dad
  • Tom: A bully at Vlad's school
  • Tomas Tod: Vladimir's vampire dad who died when he was ten
  • Mellina: Vlad's human mother who died when he was ten
