Coraline

by Neil Gaiman

The day after they moved in,
Coraline went exploring....
In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close.

I've got to say this was the weirdest book I have read in my middle school years. I read it in sixth grade for Battle of The Books. It's still good though. My friends agree that the pictures are creepy.

This was my first Gaiman book and I enjoyed it. Regarding a previous comment: If you think for a children's book the detail and length are about right, how does this book fail? What details would have enriched the read? Pardon me for laughing but for a member who complains about details, you are very detailed here. :-)

This wasn't a terrible book, just a scary children's book. If you want to read something more than a children's book, don't read it. I found the idea of the book intriguing but the detail was lacking. If it had been an adult book, intended to entertain adults it would have failed miserably. As a children's book, the detail and length are probably about right. I will let my children read it and decide for themselves if they enjoy it or not.

let me ask you a question back... should we ever have to suffer even if it is our choice. I waited till the end to see if the book took an interesting turn but it didnt so i am now alerting people with short intention spans not to read this horrid book.
