I knew about his struggle with addiction, and I was really interested to read his personal accounts of it all . It is really sad what he has been through, but I think that he was given this life because he is strong enough to live through it and because he can tell others and be an example . To be honest, I was surprised at how well written this memoir was . The book, to be ironic, was addictive . I couldn't put it down . Novak's story was captivating . It was much more than just a few stories and a psa, like one might expect from an "addiction memoir." Even if you don't know who Novak is, I recommend this book . It will truly change how you look at addiction .”

As someone who has struggled with more than one addiction, I can really relate to Novak. Though I never got as bad as he did, I definitely know what it's like to want something so bad you are willing to set everything else aside to get it. When I'm having a bad day (addiction-wise), this book is a safe place to land, to remind me of what I can become, and how easily I can get there. Five stars!”

As I watched the television shows that are supposed to be humorous, I did not think about the actual life these people lived before they became well known. This story is an autobiography about Brandon Novak and how he became addicted to drugs when he was a teenager. It also includes excerpts from people such as Tony Hawk and Bam Margera on how they were affected by Novak's drug problem and how they tried to help him. Novak grew up as a skateboarder and was exceptionally good for his age and was quickly noticed and skating is how he met his closest friends. Soon his friends noticed that he was not hanging out with them as much as they used to and they decided to investigate. They found out he had a drug problem. His friends said he would use pathetic excuses that were supposed to support his use of drugs to make people feel sorry for him. According to his friends, he had no reason to get into it besides to look like a cool skateboarder. Using drugs caused Novak many problems. People were even threatening to kill his own mother because he had no money to pay back what he bought. It came to a point where his mother could not handle it anymore and decided that he needed to leave her house because she was not able to help him. After many interrogations from his friends, he was able to get himself clean and stick to his true friends that he met while skateboarding. I thought this book was really well written and recommend it to anyone who is familiar with Novak or Bam Margera from Margera's television show.”

It's about Novak, you know from Viva La Bam and Jackass and stuff, and his struggle with drugs. It was a real eye opener, and another source for me to keep away from drugs. It was really sad and I cried a few times, but I'm emotional, but still, it was really good, and I would read it again. It's like one of those rare biographies that aren't boring to me, ahaha, so I would highly reccomend it. ”
