“I really enjoy Karen Hawkins books and nothing is better than the Scottish McLeans. Another great addition to the series”

Catriona (or Triona) gets word from her aunt in London, that her twin sister Caitlyn is carrying on in a most wild way towards the local gentlemen in London and is quite distressed by Caitlyn's actions. So Triona makes her way to London, and finds out about Caitlyn's plan to hide in Alexander MacLean's carriage and surprise him in a plot to get revenge for him snubbing her. So Triona tries to find Caitlyn and discourage such a notion when all of a sudden she sneaks into the MacLean's carriage to find that Caitlyn wasn't there, and gets trapped in the carriage herself.
Unbeknownst to her, Hugh MacLean, Alexander's younger brother was setting a trap for Caitlyn to discourage her notions towards his brother as well, and he refuses to believe that Triona is Caitlyn's sister, not who he thinks she is. He kisses her deeply, and she is quite flustered by her sudden attraction to him. They find out that they were spotted together in the carriage by noble women who are terrible gossips around town and it threatens to tarnish Triona's reputation along with her whole family as well.
So in doing the honorable thing, even though Hugh didn't want to get married ever, and Triona hoped to marry only for love, they got married and went to live at Hugh's estate Gilmerton Manor. There she quicky finds out that married life is not what she thought it would be as he keeps his feelings guarded in all but the bedroom and he doesn't want her to get too close to his daughters for fear of them becoming too attached to her if she was to leave after a few months like originally planned.
I'm not going to spoil the end of the book but I just want to say I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and I will now have to go back and read the others from his older brothers, and then Alexander's and Caitlyn's book too. :) This is a good one to read if you like Scottish Highland romances, and it has a wee bit of a paranormal twist to it as in the form of a family curse but on the MacLeans by a white witch from years ago.”
“This is another installment in the McClean family story. This time it is Hugh who falls in love. While trying to save his brother Alexander from a woman who is trying to trap him into marrying him, Hugh compromises her sister instead. They must marry to save her reputation. They think it will be only temporary but, of course, fall in love.”
