There is a cult starting up in Clonmel and Halt, Will, and Horace go to stop them. Unfortuntly, the King is quite incompetent and doesn't want them there. Many good jokes insue and you learn new things about Halt's past.

  • Will Treaty: Now a fully fledged Ranger, is full of suprises. His size is nothing compared to his skills. He is former apprentice to Halt.
  • Tug: Will's horse, who he talks to from time to time. Tug is also known for being one of the fastest horses around.
  • Alyss: Will's beautiful girlfriend and courrier for the diplomats under Lady Pauline.
  • Halt: Will's former master. Husband of Lady Pauline. Good friend of Duncan and Crowley.
  • Abelard: Halt's horse, who Halt has a habit of talking to.
  • Lady Pauline: Halt's wife. She is head of the Diplomatic Corps at Redmont.
  • Horace Altman: A young knight and natural athlete and swordsman. One of Will's best friends. Also known as the oakleaf knight.
  • Gilan: He is tall, lanky, and a Ranger. He, like Will Treaty, was a former apprentice to Halt, and is an expert in unseen movement. Not only is he arguably the best ranger in the ranger corps at seeing without being seen, which is unseen movement, but a master swordsman with the same qualities as a regular full-flegged ranger.
  • Crowley: Head of the ranger corps and great friend of Halt
  • King Ferris: The King of Clonmel
  • Sean o ' Carrick: Ferris nephew. Noble man. Very honest.
  • Tennyson: Leader of the outsiders.
  • Jenny: Childhood friend of Will. Great cook.
  • Killeen: Bodyguard of Tennyson; brother of Gerard.
  • Gerard: Bodybuard of Tennyson; brother of Kileen;
  • Nick: 1st year ranger's apprentice that Will helps train
  • Liam: 1st year ranger's apprentice that Will helps train
  • King Duncan: King of Aruluen, father of Cassandra (Evelyn)
  • Alun: Ranger who retires, leaving Whitby Fief open
  • Rodney: Battlemaster of Redmont
  • Will: A ranger who is noble and wants to bring justice to Clonmel.
