I loved this book. It's about a girl named Eleanor, she is a princess of France with father is William E. duke of Aquitaine and her 12-year-old sister Petronilla. Their mother died when Eleanor was 8, so their grandmother and ladies-in-waiting raise the girls. This is her diary from 1136 to 1137. During this time lots of thing happens like Petronilla and she get kidnapped. Eleanor is extremely intelligent and literate, because she has been educated by royal tutors. She hates spinning, weaving, sewing, and other housewife skills which she is expected to do when she marries. Eleanor is in love with a 18 year old knight in, but she knows her grandmother and father would never approve, so he sees him on quick escapes. Eleanor's father is known for his bad character, he has been excommunicated from the church, but Eleanor knows he is only like that because he has lost two family members. (Eleanor's mother and little brother). One day Eleanor's father decides he will remarry. At first Eleanor is happy but, the she is sad because she thinks her stepmother will be bad to he and she also doesn't want anybody to replace her mother. One day she is woken in the early morning that Emma, her stepmother to be, got kidnapped by a friend of Eleanor's father and the guy married her off with out her consent. Eleanor is so happy that she prays for thankfulness.
Then, at age fifteen, Eleanor is forced to be queen when her father dies and she is betrothed to sixteen-year-old Prince Louis VII of France. When Louis's father, King Louis VI,suddenly dies, Louis VII becomes king and Eleanor queen of France.
