“This story follows Andy and his experience being a zombie, being alienated by his friends and family. Zombies have no rights, are attacked, persecuted, tortured and shunned by society in general. Andy with his support group "Undead Anonymous", tries to survive and get the government to reinstate their rights.

When you first start this book it seems a bit humorous. But the story becomes dark when "breathers" mistreat zombies walking down the street and frat guys using them for their pledging while society condones it. You will be drawn into their existence and their will to survive.”
“Met this author at the W. Hollywood bookfair and he charmed me, so I bought his book. Told from the zombie's perspective, it's darkly funny and strangley touching. I recommend to it anyone who like zombies”

“Park brought me this zombie novel back from GenCon. It was BRILLIANT! Andy Warner is a zombie who reanimates after a car crash that also kills his wife. In Andy's world, only certain people reanimate, so Andy is a widower, also trying to learn how to live his undeath. He is in a group called Undead Anonymous, where he meets his new zombie girlfriend and a host of other friends. It's a funny, touching, *real* portrait of second-class citizens, undead who retain their memories and their intelligence, fighting to live lives somehow similar to their former lives. Again, very touching, and at moments, hysterically funny. Would recommend this to any zombie aficionado!”

“Who knew that a book about zombies could make you think?!? I think that parts are supposed to be funny, but this this is an incredibly tragic and heart-wrenching novel. The ending caught me completely off-guard, but I loved it and would have been disappointed had it finished any other way. ”

“ BREATHERS was an impulse Amazon buy, recommended when I purchased a separate zombie anthology. I don't usually give in to impulse buys (I have too many must-haves on my reading list as it is), but I'm so glad I decided to give into this one!

This book has it all - the blood and gore of typical zombie fare, but also romance (who wouldn't love a twenty-something hottie, even with the stitches at her wrists and throat, who happens to eat lipstick like it was going out of style), humor (I'm sorry, but breather disguised as venison is pure genius), murder (the opening scene is a husband-wife body part freezer bonanza), and an undead support group (yes, they even have field trips).
It's a quick read, and it is just so, so good. Andy, the main character, simply wants his life back, even if he is a member of the undead. As a member of society who now has absolutley no rights whatsoever, it's a lot more difficult than it sounds.
But if you've never had to drink VO5 shampoo (and sometimes conditioner) to get your formaldahyde fix, or had your arm ripped out of its socket only to be beaten over the head with it, or been shot in the face by a Social Security Administration guard, or been traumatized by frat boys in a cemetery, then you probably wouldn't understand what I'm talking about.
Seriously, just go buy it. ”
“Zombies are very entertaining in this black comedy, that makes more than one social commentary along the way. Gruesome and sweet all at the same time. Who knew zombies could be this much fun? Nicely done.”
