Amazon recommended this book to me based on my purchase history. I was glad I read it. Pitlor told the story of the Miller family – parents and their three children and a couple spouses, with all three women of the younger generation being expectant mothers – who spend a long weekend away together to celebrate the 75th birthday of the father. All three children and the spouses have various issues and challenges in their lives, while the mother is so absorbed in her personal exploits that...

This was one of those books that has WAY too much dialogue and inner emotions and little to no plot. A family is meeting to celebrate their father's birthday. Everyone has their secrets....one son's wife has been impregnanted via invitro. Another had a sperm donor. And the daughter is pregnant but she doesn't remember who the father is. This is a screwed up family, with dynamics that SHOULD have been entertaining. Instead, the book drags on with little to no development. I was bored,...
